Gonky Setup Doctor: AMS2 setup guide

Tell me what the car does and I will tell you what to change first, what you give up, and which pieces of advice contradict each other.

1. Tick what your car does

Your corner

Where it is happening, along the corner.

You can tick several. Pick more than one and I cross-check the advice.

2. Your plan

Tick above what the car does.

One symptom is enough for a plan; with several I also flag the contradictions.

Cheat sheet: what each area does

Front axle

Feels like: Nose pushes, will not bite or locks easily while braking.

Controls

  • Front ARB
  • Front Toe
  • Brake Bias
  • Front Wing

Watch out: Do not solve every slow issue with front wing.

Rear axle

Feels like: Rear is nervous, floats mid-corner or loses traction.

Controls

  • Rear ARB
  • Rear Toe
  • Rear Springs
  • Rear Wing

Watch out: Do not soften the rear until exit drive dies.

Differential

Feels like: Will not rotate off throttle, spins on throttle or pushes on exit.

Controls

  • Coast Ramp
  • Power Ramp
  • Preload

Watch out: Do not change power and coast together if the phase is unclear.

Brakes

Feels like: Front locks, rear steps out or entry is unstable.

Controls

  • Brake Bias
  • Brake Pressure
  • Engine Braking

Watch out: Do not move bias rearward until entry oversteer appears.

Tyres

Feels like: Starts well then fades, cooks shoulders or feels floaty.

Controls

  • Hot Pressure
  • Camber
  • Toe

Watch out: Do not tune from one cold lap.

Kerbs / suspension

Feels like: Bounces, bottoms out or loses contact on kerbs.

Controls

  • Ride Height
  • Fast Bump
  • Bumpstop Range

Watch out: Do not soften everything if only one fast kerb is bad.

Aero / ride height

Feels like: At speed it runs wide or the rear moves in fast support.

Controls

  • Front Wing
  • Rear Wing
  • Ride Height

Watch out: Do not use aero to hide slow hairpin problems.

Mental map

Anti-roll bars
Balance tool: stiffer front adds understeer, stiffer rear adds oversteer.
Differential
Controls how locked the driven wheels feel off throttle, neutral and on power.
Wings and downforce
Works mostly at speed: front wing helps rotation, rear wing calms the rear.
Tyres
Pressure, camber and toe decide grip, heat and tyre life.
Dampers and bumpstops
Control platform, kerbs, bottoming and how fast the car reacts.

Quick questions

How do I fix understeer in AMS2?

Start with the phase. Entry points to brake bias, coast diff or front ARB; mid-corner points to mechanical/aero balance; exit points to power diff and traction.

What if the car oversteers on throttle?

First soften Power Ramp or reduce locking, then check rear ARB, rear toe and hot pressures. Do not hide everything with traction control.

What should I tune when brakes lock?

For front locks, move brake bias slightly rearward or lower pressure. For rear locks, move bias forward and stabilize coast diff or engine braking.

Should I change many setup values at once?

No. Change one thing, test three laps on warm tyres and save each version with a clear name.

Can I fix two problems at once?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no, and the guide tells you which: pick several symptoms and it separates the changes they agree on — those go first — from the ones that contradict, like brake bias, which entry and braking pull in opposite directions. When they contradict, choose the phase where you lose the most time.

What if the server has a fixed setup?

Switch to fixed-setup mode: instead of sliders you cannot touch, the guide gives you what is actually in your hands — ABS and traction control levels, brake bias if the server allows it, and above all your line and how you release the brake.

Pilot Manager’s telemetry shows each tyre live in its temperature window and where you lock up or spin: what you need to fine-tune the setup.
