Recommended order

Lower shadows, grass, enhanced mirrors and reflections first. Then visible cars. High textures are usually worth keeping unless VRAM is tight.

Preset by graphics card

Pick your GPU and start from a sensible AMS2 baseline. On laptops, TGP and temperature matter a lot.

Visual / FPS cost

Most expensive settings

Shadow Detail

Medium / High

Tune first

Heavy in traffic, sunset, night and rain. Ultra is rarely worth it while racing.

Detailed Grass

Off / Low

Tune first

Large FPS cost for detail that is barely visible from cockpit view.

FPS cost78
Visual value32

Enhanced Mirrors

Off

Tune first

Mirrors are expensive, especially at night and in VR. Virtual mirror is the safer option.

FPS cost86
Visual value45

Environment Map / Reflections

Low / Medium

Tune first

A common FPS sink; cockpit racing hides much of the extra reflection quality.

Visible Cars

24 - 36

Situational

Large grids and starts hit CPU/GPU hard. Lower it for Le Mans, Sebring, rain or FCY-heavy races.

Triple Screen Spanning

Off if single screen

Situational

After AMS2 1.6 some users reported a large GPU hit when triple screen options were enabled on a single screen.

Track Detail

High

Balanced

High keeps scenery solid. Ultra is usually the luxury setting.

Vehicle Detail

High

Balanced

High is the sweet spot; Ultra is hard to notice while driving.

Texture Resolution

High

Safe

Keep it high unless VRAM is genuinely limited.

Texture Filtering

Low / Medium

Balanced

Can cost more than it looks from cockpit view.

Particle Level / Density

Medium

Balanced

Medium is enough for smoke, dirt and spray without turning starts into a slideshow.

Post Processing Filters

Safe

Cleaner image and a small performance win; taste setting more than racing necessity.

Render Frames Ahead

Safe

Lowest input lag. Raise only if you are chasing smoothness over latency.

Quick diagnosis

Change one thing at a time and test the same start, weather and camera.

Start drops

Solo pace is fine, but FPS sinks when the lights go out.

  • Lower Visible Cars to 24-30.
  • Set Particle Level/Density to Medium.
  • Reduce Shadow Detail one step.
