Centring is handled by the game: raise it here and the two fight each other.
We only list what affects FFB in AMS2. Leave the rest of the software (FFB curve, equaliser, wheel presets, calibration) at its defaults.
Model notes
- Applies to R9 V1, V2 and V3 — same motor class across versions.
- FX can get busy with formula cars, so tune it per class.
- Use the in-game FFB graph to avoid saturation.

What each setting does, its range and what we set for AMS2. Anything without a value, leave at default.

Maximum steering angle
For AMS2900°
Total wheel rotation from lock to lock.
AMS2 applies each car's real angle internally: leave it at 900° and do not change it per car.
Soft limit (game force)
Default
Soft software bumpstop at the rotation limit.
Handling feel
Game force feedback intensity
For AMS290 – 100%
Overall intensity of the force feedback sent by the game.
This is the master volume. Raise it before the in-game Gain if you are short on force.
FFB intensity in professional games
Default
Second multiplier the manual describes as adjustable “up to twice” the basic level. MOZA does not document which titles it applies to.
MOZA does not clarify whether AMS2 goes through here: leave it at default and use the setting above.
Maximum output torque limit
Default
Hard ceiling on motor torque.
Model dependent: check the value in the table above.
Maximum steering wheel speed limit
For AMS2100%
Caps how fast the wheel can spin, to protect the driver.
Lower it only if the wheel scares you in spins.
Hand-off protection
For AMS2On
Detects hands off the wheel and returns it to neutral.
Always leave it on — even more so at high torque.
Wheel inertia
Default
Compensation for the weight of the rim you have fitted.
It is per rim, not per game: leave it as it comes.
Base force feedback effects
Effects generated by the BASE, not the game. In AMS2 keep them low and let the game speak.
Natural damper
Default
Resistance proportional to rotation speed. Calms oscillations.
Model dependent: check the table above.
Natural friction
For AMS20 – 5%
Constant friction regardless of speed. Simulates an unassisted steering rack.
Keep it low: too much friction eats the game's detail.
Natural inertia
For AMS2100%
Simulates steering column weight: resists sudden changes.
MOZA suggests 200-300% for GT cars if you like a heavy wheel; it brings back some lost detail.
Mechanical centering strength
For AMS20%
Centering spring that does NOT come from the game.
At zero: AMS2 handles centring. Raise it and the two fight each other.
Road sense equalizer
This is where road detail lives. The manual calls it “Road sense equalizer” / “Game force filtering”; MOZA blogs call it “Road Sensitivity” (0-10). It is an equaliser by frequency bands, not a single slider.
Road sense equalizer / Game force filtering
Default
Per-band gain of the road detail the game sends.
Leave it flat by default. If the tarmac buzzes too much, lower FX in AMS2 before touching the equaliser.
About this base
The R9 V2 refined the successful 9 Nm base by adding a wired data pin to the Quick Release —so it accepts both wireless and wired wheels— and a rear panel with extra ports for pedals and handbrake. It keeps the 180 W servo motor, aviation-grade aluminium chassis and 1000 Hz USB refresh, with a 15-bit encoder. It is still sold as an affordable, balanced 9 Nm option. In Automobilista 2 it is a very versatile base for GT, touring cars and mid-range single-seaters, with plenty of torque for most classes except the most demanding.
