The Gonky rule

Gonky Racing Rules

Competitive Automobilista 2 ecosystem · Updated June 2026

Race hard, leave space and finish the race.

These rules exist so results are decided by pace, consistency and calm heads, not by avoidable lap-one contact.

Respect space

If there is real overlap, leave room. Winning one corner is not worth breaking two cars.

Rejoin safely

If you spin or go off, do not cross the track or rejoin without checking.

Finish the race

A clean finish usually helps your SR more than a desperate move.

Conduct lights

Green

  • Leave space
  • Give back position after gaining advantage
  • Lift to avoid a crash
  • Yield blue flags calmly

Yellow

  • Aggressive defence
  • Doubtful rejoin
  • Repeated light contact
  • Heated chat

Red

  • No-chance divebomb
  • Intentional blocking
  • Dangerous rejoin
  • Insults, flood or sabotage

Quick situations

I outbraked myself

Do not use the other car as a wall. If you gain position from the mistake, give it back.

Someone hit me

Continue if you can and report later. Do not take revenge on track.

I spun

Hold the brake, wait for a gap and rejoin parallel to race direction.

I am being lapped

Let faster cars through on a straight or open section, without sudden braking on line.

Kick or sanction

Gonky Racing is a competitive ecosystem for Automobilista 2. The goal is to enjoy clean races where the result reflects each driver's talent and consistency — not aggression or carelessness.

1. General principles

Respect all drivers, on and off track.
When in doubt, giving way is worth more than risking an overtake.
Each driver is responsible for their own mistakes.
No position is worth causing an accident or ruining another driver's race.

2. On-track conduct

Position defence

  • Only one defensive move is allowed before the braking zone.
  • You cannot block a driver who is overtaking once their front wheel is alongside.
  • Closing the door when your rival is already on the inside of the corner is forbidden.

Overtaking

  • An overtake is valid when the overtaking driver has fully cleared the other car before the apex.
  • The driver being overtaken must leave enough room. If there is contact during a clean overtake, responsibility falls on the defending driver for closing.
  • Dive-bombing into a braking zone with no realistic chance of making the corner is not permitted.

Start and first lap

  • Extra care at the first corner: hold your line and keep a sensible speed.
  • Do not brake suddenly and unpredictably in the middle of the pack.
  • If an accident occurs at the start, those involved must return to the racing line safely.

Blue flags

  • When shown a blue flag (being lapped), yield safely on the next straight or open section.
  • Do not brake sharply or make abrupt moves when yielding.

3. Track limits

Leaving the track surface to gain time is forbidden. The automatic system detects and penalises track cuts.

Track cut classification (SR system):

Minor: 100–299 ms gained → +1x incident
Major: ≥300 ms gained → +2x incidents

Repeated track cuts in a single race accumulate incident points that penalise the Safety Rating.

4. In-race penalties

Automatic drive-through: for track cuts or severe contact detected by AMS2.
3 accumulated cuts: automatic drive-through penalty.
Disqualification (DSQ): for extreme cases of unsportsmanlike conduct.
Administrators may apply manual penalties or retroactive sanctions by reviewing replays after the race.

5. Impact on Safety Rating (SR)

SR goes up or down after each race depending on how many incidents you accumulated relative to corners completed. The fewer incidents and the more laps you complete, the more SR you gain.

The combined licence (R/D/C/B/A/S) is recalculated after every race and can go up or down. See the full details at How it works.

6. General behaviour

·In-game chat is for functional communication. Insults and provocations are not tolerated.
·If you believe you have been the victim of unsportsmanlike conduct, report the incident to an administrator with the driver's name and the approximate time.
·Administrative sanctions are final. You may appeal through the official Discord channel.
